ABOUT US

On a mission to engage and inspire audiences through the transformational power of choral music, Mission Peak Choir has long been part of the Bay Area choral scene. Established as the "Ohlone Chamber Singers" in the 1980’s, the choir evolved into "Mission Peak Chamber Singers", an independent non-profit organization in 2014, after California community colleges withdrew support for choral arts. In 2019 the "East Bay People's Choir" was created with the intention of making choral music accessible to all. The two choirs initially had different members, and rehearsed and performed separately, but in 2023 they decided to join forces. This merger was so successful that the choir evolved again in 2025 into ONE main ensemble: Mission Peak Choir

Mission Peak Choir is a diverse group of singers from all walks of life, backgrounds, and abilities who come to rehearsals united by their joy of singing. The group is free and open to anyone who wants to learn to sing. We perform three concerts a year, as well as outreach events in our local community of Fremont, CA. No singing experience is necessary, and repertoire will be a mixture of sheet music and rote learning. Drop ins are always welcome (no audition necessary). Rehearsals are Tuesdays from 7-8.30pm at Niles Discovery Church in Fremont.

Within the larger choir we do still have a smaller, auditioned group of Chamber Singers. This group performs choral literature that varies in era, region, language, and style. This group of experienced and enthusiastic singers learns repertoire mostly from sheet music. Chamber Singers rehearse Tuesdays from 8:30-10pm at Niles Discovery Church in Fremont.

Now reliant upon the generosity of donors, fundraising and concert ticket sales, Mission Peak Choir champions the cause of music as a community enterprise and as a medium of social change. Music is our gift to you, and we are deeply grateful for the steadily increasing support from our audience and donors!
